Innovating Beyond Code: The Essential Role of Arts as Aesthetic Technologies
Thursday, September 26
2 – 3:15 p.m.
Bethany Hall, Room BC
The Office of the Provost is pleased to offer the next installment of its Impact Talks Speaker Series featuring Professor Giovanni Schiuma, Fulbright Scholar at Seton Hall University and Professor of Knowledge and Innovation Management and Director of the Department of Engineering at LUM University.
Schiuma will explore the critical role of the arts in shaping human-centric organizations within the rapidly evolving digital landscape. As businesses increasingly rely on AI and other intelligent technologies, Schiuma argues that true sustainable innovation requires integrating the arts - what he calls “Aesthetic Technologies” - into management systems. This approach represents the essence of Artful Management, combining the creativity, emotional intelligence, and cultural awareness provided by the arts with the efficiency of digital tools, leading to more innovative, impactful, and human-centered business practices. In the era of Industry 5.0, where human values and experiences are paramount, Schiuma’s insights offer a pathway to sustainable growth and the creation of organizations that are both technologically advanced and deeply human.
