Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement
The Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement is designed for New Jersey teachers who currently hold an initial certification in another teaching specialty. Today's classrooms serve a broad range of learners and dual certification in general and special education provides the rich, research-based best practices needed to support all student learning.
Program
The Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement is 21 credits, seven courses, and addresses both state and national standards (Council for Exceptional Children) associated with special education preparation. Specifically, instructional strategies, classroom environment, and support for diverse learners such as students with autism and other developmental disabilities. Classes are offered on weekends to provide flexibility in scheduling for practicing teachers. Field experiences are connected to course content.
How to Apply
Students must already possess a Standard NJ Instructional Certificate in order to apply for the Teacher of Students with Disabilities endorsement.
