Occupational Therapy

Seton Hall University offers an innovative dual degree program leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Behavioral Sciences (SOBT) and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT). This five-year (3+2) program offers students an opportunity to begin their pre-professional education in a traditional liberal arts environment and complete their professional degree in an intensive curriculum that offers clinical internships.

The Occupational Therapy program is rigorous with high expectations for students' performance. During the 2021-2023 academic years, 177 students were admitted to the program and 173 (97.7%) of them completed the program. Occasionally, students choose to withdraw from the program for various reasons. Program graduates are eligible to take the National Certification Examination for the Occupational Therapist (NBCOT®).

B.A. in Social and Behavioral Sciences

The social and behavioral sciences major at Seton Hall University encompasses those disciplines related to the study of humanity in all its diversity. The program is distinguished by its emphasis on understanding behavior as a product of the interaction of individuals and their society and culture. This integrated perspective prepares students for careers in many professional and applied areas. Ongoing academic advising from the program's director ensures that students receive the guidance needed to tailor the program to their interests and goals.

M.S. in Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists (OTs) help their clients regain lost abilities, develop new skills and live life to the fullest. That work can take many forms - from serving children with development disabilities, to helping a patient relearn daily tasks after a stroke, to working with people who have physical and mental disabilities.

Guaranteed Advancement

Students admitted into the SOBT dual degree program are guaranteed admission into the Occupational Therapy graduate program in their senior year, provided they meet all the admission criteria outlined in their Catalogue. Due to a limit on the number of occupational therapy students in each entering class, admission into the program is competitive and highly selective.
